It turns out, even pop superstars like Katy Perry need a little advice from rock legends every now and then. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac fame revealed some sage wisdom she shared with Katy Perry a decade ago—right around the time that the infamous “bad blood” between Katy and Taylor Swift was making headlines.
At the height of the drama, Katy expressed her frustration to Stevie about the pressures of being a female pop star, saying, “All the girl singers are cruel and rancid.”
That’s when Stevie Nicks dropped a truth bomb on Katy: “Get off the internet.” Stevie explained that she didn’t have rivals because she wasn’t engaged in the digital drama. Her phone didn’t even have internet access. Instead, she believed in supporting other women in the music industry rather than competing with them. Stevie said, “I don’t have rivals. All the women singers that I know are friends. Nobody’s competing. Get off the internet and you won’t have rivals either.”
