Mindy Cohn, who played Natalie on “The Facts of Life,” reveals that a potential reboot of the beloved sitcom was derailed by a cast member’s “greedy” actions. Following the success of the 2021 “Live in Front of a Studio Audience” special, producer Norman Lear approached the original cast about a revival.
On a recent podcast, Mindy said things fell apart when “one of the girls … went behind our backs and tried to make a separate deal for a spinoff just for herself and devastated the rest of us.” The 58-year-old actress mentioned that the incident has irreparably damaged their relationship, and the revival is now officially dead. Her co-stars are Kim Fields, Lisa Whelchel, and Nancy McKeon.
“A couple of people can’t move past it, don’t want to move past it. We are not as united. Let me put it that way. We were united for 40 years . . . and this kind of wrecked that, which is sad. Really sad,” Cohen shared.
Mindy did not name the guilty party, but she hinted that you could figure it out by checking her Instagram to see who she hangs out with and who she doesn’t. She doesn’t have many pictures with any of the cast, but 15 weeks ago, she wished Nancy McKeon a happy birthday. And there’s a pic from two years ago of Mindy with Nancy and Kim Fields.
This would suggest that the “greedy” cast member was Lisa Whelchel, who played the rich kid, Blair Warner.
