Taylor Swift is Time magazine’s Person of the Year.
Time Editor Sam Jacobs made the big reveal on the Today show Wednesday morning.
He says, “In a year when the world is divided — there’s a lot of light and a lot of darkness, there are a number of different choices that could have represented 2023 but we picked someone who represents joy — someone who’s bringing light to the world — someone who’s taken her own story and has made it big enough for everyone, and I don’t think there’s anyone who moved so many people so well as Taylor Swift did in 2023.” He added that in 2023, “She was like the weather. She was everywhere.”
The issue features three different covers. All will hit newsstands on December 15th.
Meanwhile, Forbes magazine named Taylor Swift as the world’s fifth most powerful woman, her highest-ever ranking in the annual ranking, and the top-ranking musician. She was only out-ranked by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at No. 1, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde at No. 2, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris at No. 3 and Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni at No. 4.
