Miley Cyrus kept her New Year’s Eve promise to release new music by Friday the 13th.
The singer dropped a new song that looks on the bright side of a relationship that ended.
Sampling the 2012 Bruno Mars hit “When I Was Your Man,” Cyrus seems to answer Mars’ famous lyrics “I should have bought you flowers / And held your hand / Should have gave you all my hours / When I had the chance / Take you to every party ’cause all you wanted to do was dance” in a chorus of her own.
“I can buy myself flowers,” she sings. “Write my name in the sand / Talk to myself for hours / Say things you don’t understand / I can take myself dancing / And I can hold my own hand / Yeah, I can love me better than you can.”
Cyrus released the song on her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s 33rd birthday. “Flowers” will be on her eighth studio album, Endless Summer Vacation, expected to be out on March 10.
