Billionaire businessman and philanthropist David Geffen has gone private after posting his yacht while self-isolating.
The 77-year-old is self-isolating in the Grenadines, which are islands in the Caribbean, on his multi-million dollar yacht.
Geffen posted a picture of his yacht against a beautiful sunset and captioned it “ “Sunset last night… isolated in the Grenadines avoiding the virus. I’m hoping everybody is staying safe.”
He quickly faced a internet backlash, criticizing Geffen for displaying his wealth and privilege while millions of people struggle with unemployment and healthcare workers are fighting to protect themselves while saving lives of others.
Vis a vis David Geffen…
Here's a good rule: if you post a picture of your yacht during this time, you have to announce charitable contributions that equal or exceed the value of said yacht in the same post.
Also if Congress could vote remote they could pass this into law.

Pretty sure he could donate millions and still have the yacht. But posting that was truly tone deaf & insulting to people who are truly suffering. #DavidGeffen
