The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2025 was officially revealed last night during “American Idol” and this year’s lineup is packed with legendary names across several genres.
In the Performers category, the following artists will be inducted:
-
Bad Company
-
Chubby Checker
-
Joe Cocker
-
Cyndi Lauper
-
Outkast
-
Soundgarden
-
The White Stripes
Meanwhile, Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will be recognized in the Musical Influence category.
In the Musical Excellence category, honors will go to:
-
R&B songwriter and producer Thom Bell
-
Pianist and organist Nicky Hopkins
-
Bassist Carol Kaye
The prestigious Ahmet Ertegun Award will be presented to Lenny Waronker, the former president of Warner Bros. Records and co-founder of DreamWorks Records.
Notable Snubs:
Despite winning the fan vote with 330,000 votes, Phish did not make it into the Hall this year. Bad Company (second place in fan votes) made it in, while Billy Idol (third place) was also left out. The fan vote only counts as one ballot out of roughly 1,200, so it does not always guarantee induction. This is just the second time the fan favorite didn’t get in, the first being Dave Matthews Band in 2020 (they were inducted later in 2023).
When and Where to Watch:
The Induction Ceremony will take place on November 8th in Los Angeles. It will stream live on Disney+, with a replay available on Hulu the next day. ABC will also air a special broadcast at a later date.
