Wendy’s Throws Shade at Katy Perry’s Space Trip

Fast food chain Wendy’s is known for its sassy social media presence, but this time, it’s not just roasting the competition; it’s roasting Katy Perry.

After the pop star completed her highly publicized trip to space aboard Blue Origin with Gayle King, Lauren Sanchez, and an all-female crew, Wendy’s jumped in with some surprisingly sharp commentary.

When a post on X (formerly Twitter) read, “Katy Perry has returned from space,” Wendy’s quote-tweeted, “Can we send her back?” That alone turned heads, but the burger chain didn’t stop there.

Wendy’s followed up with a cheeky jab at one of Katy’s biggest hits, replying to a photo of the singer kissing the ground with, “I kissed the ground and I liked it.”

In another thread, Wendy’s added, “I’m a woman send me to space. When we said women in STEM this isn’t what we meant.”

While the internet debated whether this was bold humor or a step too far, critics of the spaceflight had already been voicing frustration. Many argued that the mission felt tone-deaf and performative, especially amid growing backlash to diversity initiatives. Some called the celebrity-heavy voyage a “slap in the face” to actual women working in aerospace and science fields.
