Katy Perry is taking “California Gurl” to a whole new level—outer space! The pop star is set to join an all-female crew on board one of Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin space flights.
Joining Perry on this historic mission are Gayle King from CBS Mornings, Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sanchez, an aerospace engineer, a civil rights activist, and a filmmaker. The launch, reportedly organized by Sanchez, is tentatively scheduled for this spring.
Sanchez shared, “I am honored to lead a team of explorers on a mission that will challenge their perspectives of Earth, empower them to share their own stories, and create lasting impact that will inspire generations to come.”
Perry expressed her excitement on social media, posting a photo of the crew and writing, “I am honored to be among this diverse group of celestial sisters.”
This marks another major celebrity venture into space after William Shatner made history in 2021 as the oldest person to travel beyond Earth’s atmosphere. Now, Katy Perry and her team will be making history in their own right! 🚀
