2024 National Toy Hall of Fame Inductees Include Three ’80s Favorites

The votes are in, and the Toy Hall of Fame has officially announced its class of 2024! Each year, The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, selects a few iconic toys to join the prestigious Hall of Fame. This year, from a pool of 12 finalists, the chosen inductees are Transformers, My Little Pony, and Phase 10.

These classic toys were chosen by the National Selection Advisory Committee, an expert panel tasked with deciding which toys have had a lasting impact across generations. This year’s inductees were picked from a strong list of finalists, which included Pokémon cards, remote-controlled cars, balloons, and Choose Your Own Adventure books.

Here’s a closer look at this year’s inductees:

Transformers: First introduced in the 1980s, Transformers toys quickly became a cultural phenomenon with their ability to “transform” from robots into vehicles, animals, and more. Over the decades, these iconic action figures have inspired TV shows, movies, and a devoted fanbase, solidifying their place in pop culture.

My Little Pony: Known for their colorful designs and friendly personalities, My Little Pony toys have been a staple of childhood since the early 1980s. With new generations of fans and animated series reimagining the beloved characters, these ponies have continued to capture hearts around the world.

Phase 10: A card game that combines elements of Rummy with unique phases to complete, Phase 10 has become a favorite for families and friends. Created in 1982, this engaging and easy-to-learn game has stood the test of time, offering hours of fun and friendly competition.
