Norfolk SPCA Seeks Community’s Help to Keep Animals Warm Following Boiler Damage on Christmas
The Norfolk SPCA is seeking the community’s help after a pipe burst above the building’s boiler room on Christmas night. Volunteers and staff spent the night cleaning up and the Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded to investigate smoke after crews turned the boiler back on.
All animals were safe and the building was secured by Norfolk Fire and Rescue Station 10.
Norfolk SPCA Executive Director, Kimberly Sherlaw’s dog Wooly watches Fire and Rescue secure the building. Wooly was adoped from the Norfolk SPCA 3 years ago.
The incident temporarily knocked out water and heat and although it has since been restored, towels and blankets are needed to help keep the animals warm. Donations are accepted 24/7 at the front entrance of the SPCA on Ballentine Boulevard.
