Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning British monarch, died on Thursday at age 96.
The Queen “died peacefully at Balmoral” the Royal Family announced in a statement adding “The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
She will be succeeded by her firstborn son Charles, who will officially reign under the title of His Majesty King Charles III.
