Via WAVY-TV 10:
After testing positive for COVID-19, the three tigers at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk are feeling better and back on display for visitors.
Zoo Veterinarian Dr. Tara Reilly told Wavy, “Because of that relationship that was built between the keepers and the tigers, they know immediately if anything is even a little bit off,.”
The Zoo shared a video of veterinarians testing the tigers for COVID-19 while they were awake.
“We are, to our knowledge, the very first zoo that has been able to collect awake nasal swabs in our tigers in order to help diagnose COVID-19,” Reilly said.
