Dolly Parton received the first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday after she helped fund its creation last November.
In April 2020, Parton made a $1 million donation to COVID-19 research at Vanderbilt, which was then partially used to fund Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine. Moderna previously announced its vaccine is 94.5% effective against the virus.
In a video shared on social media, Dolly sang “Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine. I’m begging of you please, don’t hesitate.” to the tune of ‘Jolene.”
